Manga review: Tokyo Ghoul Vol. 2

Title: Tokyo Ghoul Vol. 2
Author: Sui Ishida
Pages: 208
Type: Manga (VIZ)
Rating: later teens (due to more graphic scenes)
Stars: 5/5

Tokyo Ghoul is a story about a normal boy who has gotten into an accident while in a fight with a Ghoul. He survives and gets sent to the hospital and gets an organ transplant from the dead girl. With that said, you can guess that he has ghoul organs in his body and with that he is slowly turning into a ghoul. Now as half human, half ghoul he has to get used to his situation and live in a world of being hungry… but not for human food. As a matter of fact, human food makes you sick. What you crave is not human food, it’s humans. Ken, now as half ghoul, doesn’t like the idea of having to feed on humans. He himself is still half human, why would he eat his own kind? Now Ken has to live in the ghoul world where he has to learn to be and live like a ghoul and it isn’t as easy as it sounds.

So far as a whole, I give this series a 5/5. I’m new to Manga so this read is definitely a great start for me and I like the idea of the story. I’m a sucker for anything supernatural.

I’ll get into this second Volume now and while I won’t spoil this Volume too much, it will definitely spoil the first book. So, if you haven’t read the first book and you wanna read it, please stop reading here and pick up the first book. Go, go!

The second Volume continues with Ken Kaneki working at a restaurant lead by ghouls for both ghouls and humans where he continues learning how to get used to and living like a ghoul. He has to learn how to eat human food to pass as a human without having to throw up which for Ken is harder than it sounds. He still hangs around with his best friends from school, who’s human, and he’s forbidden to tell him what he is so it proves very hard for Kaneki to do so.

There’s a new threat in town. Ghoul Investigators are in town and they have found out of a ghoul and they wanna go get it and drama starts and stuff happens and a war slowly rises between them and the Ghouls.

I find this story more and more interesting and it’s getting darker and more mysterious and I definitely wanna know how it continues. I already bought myself Volume 3.

Hi, I'm Dani from Switzerland. I love to do art, watching movies/tv shows and read comics. I hope to some day be able to travel the world, which would make my blog a whole lot more interesting as it is right now.
